When something "comes down to the wire," it means that the outcome will be decided at the very end of the event or contest. In other words, it is a close call, and the decision will be in doubt until the very end.
何かが「ワイヤーにかかってくる」とは、イベントまたはコンテストの最後に結果が決定されることを意味します。つまり、ギリギリの判定であり、最後まで判断がつかない。
